In my paintings I try to set up a tension which can move back and forth between abstraction and the image, to set up a visual conversation between things that I feel and or know, or want to know about myself and the world, as well as the aesthetic knowledge that grows out of the surface and the paint itself. Many of my forms derive from the minutiae of nature; seed pods, leaves, small things enlarged and observed.
